talk about publicity stunts. i wonder if u guys are as amused as me when i heard the following news:

Publicity stunt to promote Anlene Orchard Mile goes awry

SINGAPORE: A publicity stunt to promote the Anlene Orchard Mile run may have ended up running afoul of the law.

About 20 men took part in a 'mock protest' along Orchard Road on Sunday afternoon to complain about not being able to take part in the women-only run.

The organisers did not have a permit to do so and police are investigating the incident.

The Anlene Orchard Mile, which will be held on June 15, is in its second year.

Raffles Place Ghost hoax costs S$100,000

THE "ghost video" - actually a publicity stunt - that was widely circulated via e-mail here last month cost recruitment and HR consultancy group GMP just $100,000.

What it got in return was more than 250,000 views on YouTube and wide media coverage, after it was first posted on citizen media website Stomp. Created by McCann Worldgroup Singapore, the video first appeared online on April 21.

It showed what appeared to be CCTV footage of two men being followed out of an office lift by the ghost of an old woman.

Mr Farrokh Madon, executive creative director for Mc- Cann, said in an article in Marketing Magazine that the "Raffles Place Ghost" is a "fantastic example of how a big idea can magnify a small advertising budget".

"Besides great awareness, there was a lot of traffic to the GMP microsite and the number of CVs uploaded increased exponentially," he added.

some thoughts

i would believe its a long weekend for most pple, from saturday to monday.. a rare break from the work or studies. over this few weeks, quite some stuff have happened.. one of them that had struck me deeply is the earthquake of sichuan that happened on last monday. as i watched the news on tv, and read the articles on the papers, i find it hard not to imagine the pain the families are going through. losing your love ones suddenly, not sure whether they have survived or still stuck under the rubble, and in some of the worst cases, whole villages engulfed entirely by landslides and hundreds of schools leveled to flat ground with their thousands of children who were not even given the chance to escape in time. imagine the thousands of families affected, imagine the thousands of lives lost... i cannot.

there was one particular report on the news on rescue efforts, where a 20 yr old was rescued out of the rubble on her birthday. as she was carried out on a stretcher, the rescuer sang her a birthday song. my tears dropped as i hear how strongly the voices united as one to congratulate the gal on her birthday, and in additional, for surviving to spend another.

as afterquakes continue to shake the region, international rescue teams rushed to help the chinese govt with their experts and aid. and particularly , japanese and taiwan, both countries which i believed was not on very good terms with china chipped in both in effort and money quickly. its indeed good to know that in a time of disaster, people can put their differences aside and help one another, perhaps the chance of a lifetime that actually made this alliance possible.. in some way, i felt that the diaster had been handles positively, comparied to the mynamar flood. in china, aid was quickly administrated and priorities were correct. perhaps.. perhaps.. though this sad disaters, pple of the different countries would put aside their differences for once.. and work together, stop fighting, taiwan and china would be friends again, the chinese will sorta forgive the japs, the victims can rebuild their homelands quickly with aid, and live in safer and more secure stuctures that no long crubble that easily under quakes.. and in someway, the beijing olypmics is more significant than ever, for the country would be in the process of recovering from the disaster. celebrating the spirit of not only sportmanship but also the world as a whole, people united as one to achieve the best of mankind

王若琳 - Lost in Paradise

I know that it might sound strange
But you made my seasons start to change
It happened so suddenly
Like heaven has waited up for me

I've just been looking so long
Kept meeting my Mr.Wrong
In every model and every size
Now my fantasy
Is staring at your eyes

Sometimes you think I'm beautiful
But I don't know
I'll keep it to myself
You say it,It feels wonderful
My smile can show
I'm lost in paradise

The letters you wrote to me
Showed me the signs I've never seen
I thought every man I'd want
Falls out of a dating magazine

But I know that with you
That was so far from the truth
On every page and every line
Now you're my everything
I guess you know how to read my mind

Sometimes you think I'm beautiful
But I don't know
I'll keep it to myself
You say it,It feels wonderful
My smile can show
I'm lost in paradise

I know
I guess that it shows
The message that flows to me
Makes it more worth than make believe

Sometimes you think I'm beautiful
But I don't know
I'll keep it to myself
You say it,It feels wonderful
My smile can show
I'm lost in paradise

Sometimes you think I'm beautiful
But I don't know
I'll keep it to myself
You say it,It feels wonderful
My smile can show
I'm lost in paradise

its early dear. but happy 1 year and 7 months on tues dear!

over the weekend: played bridge - lost and wash dishes and cleaned a stove that wasnt mine, made potato salad, had cold ramen, had a diamond face scrub(wasnt that fanantastic),toyed with idea of organising a marketing grad dinner just to make marketers feel that they aren the losers of the world with that little pay..lol, sent an email to organise a no-boss company dinner at indian resturant, took 50 bucks worth of cab, missed my eyeore, mailed mel's present, banked my check, waxed my legs, thread my brows, ran 10 rounds of track in total, swam in the pool, nearly melt in the blazing sun, think of buying a new comp, be funny and tickled my dear, drank 3 in 1 coffee every morning.

as of today, i watched spongebob, had coffee again, googled scrapbooking singapore and found nothing of interest and proceeded to be typing this entry in the empty study room. bored. wonder wat it would be like working tmw, wish me luck
