some thoughts

i would believe its a long weekend for most pple, from saturday to monday.. a rare break from the work or studies. over this few weeks, quite some stuff have happened.. one of them that had struck me deeply is the earthquake of sichuan that happened on last monday. as i watched the news on tv, and read the articles on the papers, i find it hard not to imagine the pain the families are going through. losing your love ones suddenly, not sure whether they have survived or still stuck under the rubble, and in some of the worst cases, whole villages engulfed entirely by landslides and hundreds of schools leveled to flat ground with their thousands of children who were not even given the chance to escape in time. imagine the thousands of families affected, imagine the thousands of lives lost... i cannot.

there was one particular report on the news on rescue efforts, where a 20 yr old was rescued out of the rubble on her birthday. as she was carried out on a stretcher, the rescuer sang her a birthday song. my tears dropped as i hear how strongly the voices united as one to congratulate the gal on her birthday, and in additional, for surviving to spend another.

as afterquakes continue to shake the region, international rescue teams rushed to help the chinese govt with their experts and aid. and particularly , japanese and taiwan, both countries which i believed was not on very good terms with china chipped in both in effort and money quickly. its indeed good to know that in a time of disaster, people can put their differences aside and help one another, perhaps the chance of a lifetime that actually made this alliance possible.. in some way, i felt that the diaster had been handles positively, comparied to the mynamar flood. in china, aid was quickly administrated and priorities were correct. perhaps.. perhaps.. though this sad disaters, pple of the different countries would put aside their differences for once.. and work together, stop fighting, taiwan and china would be friends again, the chinese will sorta forgive the japs, the victims can rebuild their homelands quickly with aid, and live in safer and more secure stuctures that no long crubble that easily under quakes.. and in someway, the beijing olypmics is more significant than ever, for the country would be in the process of recovering from the disaster. celebrating the spirit of not only sportmanship but also the world as a whole, people united as one to achieve the best of mankind
